Custom Geohedron Designs

Our entry-level Geohedron kit is the building block for endless housing solutions. Its 25-foot (24-foot interior) diameter is designed for manufacturing. This maximizes efficient use of our all-renewable natural resources and minimum material waste. It also ensures the lowest possible entry cost for owners and builders. Many people believe it’s also the perfect size as well, balancing “small is beautiful” with the efficiency and natural lifestyle of real-world living.

But our precision design and manufacturing flexciblity makes it possible to purchase and build custom Geohedron kits over a wide range of sizes. We’re glad to provide estimates for most sizes so that you can tailor your home or retreat to your site and your personal needs and inclinations.

A perfect example of this is our breathtakingly innovative Geohedron Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). It features two custom-sized domes joined by the sweep of an elegant, conventionally framed entranceway and kitchen. Like our Montana Moon kits, it also maximizes resource efficiency and minimizes manufacturing waste. Its design and dimensions make full use of typical state square footage parameters and reduce your square footage costs over smaller versions. But we encourage you to customize or resize your Geohedron ADU to best realize your dreams for the site and the life you can live there.

Some states such as California encourage ADUs as housing solutions by permitting (no pun intended) municipal Planning Departments to streamline the building process with preapproved building plans and associated engineer-certified energy and structural calculations. This simplifies and shortens the permit and regulatory process, resulting in lower costs for public agencies as well as for the prospective homeowner.

We are working with some of these agencies to provide everything they need to certify Geohedron ADUs and Montana Moon dome kits. Very few geodesic domes available in California are approved for permanent foundations and occupancy permits, making them more suitable for campgrounds and temporary shelters than as solutions for permanent and transitional housing needs. We intend to submit Geohedrons that satisfy all the requirements for approval in their respective locales to other regions, leveraging an approval process that increasingly is governed by state regulators rather than cities and towns.
